Fantastic performances at Shikon International today. Levi gold in Wado kata and gold in All Styles kata.  Lucy silver in All Styles kata and bronze in kumite.  Jordan seventh in kata and fought really well in kumite. Sensei David gold in Wado kata and silver in All Styles kata.

Karate stars shining at Dublin International Tournament

It was very shiny in Carnalea and Scrabo karate clubs this week following the students’ successes at the recent Dublin International Karate Tournament, held in the National Basketball Arena. Despite top competition from all around the UK, local students came home with a very handsome total of twenty six medals: four gold, ten silver and twelve bronze. The top team this year in kumite was the trio of Rachael Fleming, Lucy Ouldfield and Amy Adair, going one better than last year and this time becoming the champions. Sporty Rachael is four time Northern Ireland champion

Winning one Northern Ireland title in any sport is a great achievement, however winning four Northern Ireland titles at one championship is pretty special. That’s exactly what Bangor girl Rachael Fleming who attends Glenlola Collegiate achieved at the recent championships held in Lough Moss Leisure Centre, Carryduff. Some seven hundred competitors competed in individual kata, individual kumite and team events for the same disciplines and Rachel, entered in each of them, collected gold in them all!
